If you are suffering from incontinence and it is only getting worse, you should try reducing the consumption of some things that are probably having a negative impact on your bladder. These things may include the items you eat, drink or even some things you do regularly. By avoiding these things, you can get a stronger bladder. Things to avoid:
  1. Alcohol: Consumption of alcohol irritates the bladder and increases the need to urinate. Limit or completely avoid consuming any alcohol if you’re incontinent.
  2. Caffeine: Same as alcohol, caffeine is a diuretic that can increase the urges to urinate. You can limit the caffeine intake by avoiding the consumption of coffee, energy drinks, etc.

  6. Artificial Sugar: Some artificial sweeteners and sugar usually found in diet drinks, can also lead to increased incontinence.
  7. Acidic Foods: Acid-rich food items like orange, lemon, limes, grapefruits, tomatoes, etc. are also harmful to incontinence patients.
  8. Spicy Foods: Spicy food items like chilies and curries are likely to irritate the bowel and bladder. One must try to limit the use of spicy and oily foods.
  9. Frozen: Some frozen and packaged food items are rich in chemicals and coloring that may cause an increase in urination.
  10. Cranberry juice: Cranberry juice is used to treat some bladder infections, but is not beneficial for incontinence. On the contrary, it can even increase the problem because of its acidic pH.
